Wellbeing

As with all NSW public schools, we create safe learning and teaching environments that promote the well-being, happiness, success, and productivity of our students.

The department is committed to creating quality learning opportunities for children and young people. These opportunities support wellbeing through positive and respectful relationships and fostering a sense of belonging to the school and community.

The  Wellbeing Framework for Schools  helps schools support the cognitive, physical, social, emotional and spiritual development of students and allows them to connect, succeed and thrive throughout their education.

Restorative practice: supporting student wellbeing

At Caves Beach Public School, we are committed to fostering a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment where every student feels valued and heard. Our approach to student wellbeing is grounded in restorative practice—a proactive and relational framework that prioritises connection, empathy, and personal responsibility.

Restorative practice goes beyond traditional discipline by focusing on repairing relationships and building a strong sense of community. When challenges or conflicts arise, we guide students through structured conversations that help them reflect on their actions, understand the impact on others, and collaboratively develop solutions.

This process not only resolves issues more effectively but also empowers students with lifelong skills in communication, empathy, and conflict resolution. By nurturing these qualities, restorative practice strengthens our school culture and supports the holistic wellbeing of every child in our care.
