Students at Caves Beach Public School have access to a wide range of digital technology. Every classroom has a large set of iPads with the latest educational apps loaded ready for daily use. In addition to iPads, our Year 3-6 classes also have a set of laptops available in each room. The school has an exclusive Student Learning Hub filled with quick links to all the latest and appropriate educational websites. Students use this hub when at school and at home.

All classrooms at Caves Beach Public School have a large Interactive Display Board at the front of the room. Teachers use this every day to present lessons and allow students to interact with the touchscreen capabilities. The school library has a large collection of robotics and STEM equipment available for students to use. These robotics lessons are delivered once a week to all classes.

Every teacher schedules a regular weekly timeslot to visit the Computer Room where there are 31 desktop computers for student use. This provides an opportunity for all students to be taught the skills necessary to successfully use computers and technology to enhance their learning. These skills include identifying the parts of the computer, learning to type and how to access and use programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Students also learn about the world and protocols around emails and the internet.

The Computer Room is open at recess for a different year group everyday as an alternative to the playground.

Every child has their own username and password that allows login access to all computers within the Department of Education. With this, students can use the internet, access collaboration drives and their student email through the Student Portal.

Please view the Student Use of Digital Devices and Online Services to access the Department of Education’s internet usage policy for all students.
